Barco is a Belgian technology company and a world leader in professional visualization systems. It manufactures laser projectors (including cinema projectors and projectors for live events, simulation, and installations), LED screens, displays, and collaboration solutions.
The company was founded in 1934 by Lucien De Puydt in the town of Poperinge (Belgium) under the name Belgian American Radio Corporation (hence the acronym Barco) — initially assembling radio receivers from imported American components. After the founder's death in 1941, radio pioneer Camille Decamps relaunched the company in Kortrijk. In 1967, Barco became one of the first companies in Europe to launch a color television and entered the professional broadcast market, later focusing on display and projection technologies (LCD, LED, DLP, LCoS). In 2014, the company introduced the world's first laser cinema projector and became the global leader in high-brightness laser projection.
