A German manufacturer of electric chain hoists and their control systems for the rental and events industry — theaters, concerts, TV studios, and sports arenas. Known for its D8, D8Plus, and C1 (SIL 3) class hoists, as well as controllers and load-monitoring systems.
The company was founded in 1996 in Eilenburg, Saxony, by the Hartung family; its roots lie in installing lighting and sound equipment for clubs, and its first product, in 1994, was a chain hoist control system compliant with German safety standards. In 1998, ChainMaster introduced VarioLift, the world's first variable-speed hoist certified to the BGV-C1 standard. Since August 1, 2018, the company has been part of the LIFTKET group (LIFTKET Hoffmann GmbH acquired all shares), while retaining its own brand and production. Today, more than 130,000 ChainMaster hoists are in operation worldwide, with products shipped to 55 countries.
