Green Hippo is a British developer and manufacturer of media servers and real-time video control software for the live events, television, theatre, and installation industries. It is known for its flagship Hippotizer media server range and Estuary controllers, used for video playback and 3D projection mapping on major shows.
The company was founded in 2000 in London as a niche producer of custom solutions and grew into one of the leading players in the stage video market. Its first major success came with the media playback system for the West End production of "Mary Poppins"; in October 2014 it released the completely redesigned Hippotizer V4 generation with 3D projection mapping capability. In October 2018, Green Hippo was acquired by Spitfire Creative Technologies (owner of the tvONE brand), and in 2023 the tvONE/Green Hippo group came under the control of ACT Entertainment. Green Hippo's technology has been used at events such as Eurovision, the Academy Awards ceremony, and the Super Bowl halftime show, as well as in theatrical productions and concert tours.
