Kinesys #1070

Kinesys is a British manufacturer of motion control (automation) systems for the live events industry: programmable variable-speed chain hoists, winches, drives, load cells, and control software (Vector) for concert tours, television, film, and theatre.

The company was founded in 2003 in the United Kingdom by Dave Weatherhead: at the request of a production manager, he wrote the software and built a prototype variable-speed chain hoist controller that became the foundation for all subsequent Kinesys systems. As early as 2003, Elevation controllers were used on the Bon Jovi and Robbie Williams tours, while the Vector software had been used a year earlier on The Rolling Stones' Licks tour; the evolved Elevation technology was used on U2's 360° world tour (2009), and the Apex line was launched in 2017. In June 2019, Kinesys joined the TAIT group (an American leader in stage automation), continuing to operate as a standalone brand.
