Layher (Wilhelm Layher GmbH & Co. KG) is a leading German manufacturer of modular scaffolding, protective and event systems, as well as ladders and stagings. Known for the SpeedyScaf (facade scaffolding) and Allround (modular scaffolding with a bolt-free wedge connection) systems, widely used for stages, grandstands, and temporary structures at events, among other applications.
The company was founded in 1945 by timber merchant Wilhelm Layher; it initially produced wooden agricultural tools and ladders, and from 1948 onward, ladder scaffolding. The SpeedyScaf system appeared in 1965, followed in 1974 by the modular Allround scaffolding with its patented bolt-free wedge connection, which became an industry standard. After the founder's death in 1962, his children carried on the business; the company remains 100% family-owned to this day. Today Layher operates in roughly 40-44 countries through subsidiaries worldwide.
