Robert Juliat #1100

Robert Juliat is a French manufacturer of professional stage and theatrical lighting equipment (followspots, profile/Fresnel/PC lenses, HMI and LED fixtures) for theaters, opera houses, television, concerts, and events. The oldest continuously operating theatrical lighting manufacturer in the world, producing equipment in France since 1919.

The company was founded in 1919 by Robert Juliat, who designed and manufactured lighting and projection equipment for cinemas; in 1923 he produced one of the first plano-convex lens spotlights. In the 1960s, Jean-Charles Juliat joined the business, redirecting the firm toward stage lighting and "son et lumière" productions, and became its head in 1972 (the company was reorganized as Robert Juliat SA). Key milestones include the first HMI followspot with a built-in power supply (the 575W Pixie, 1976) and the introduction of digital DMX brightness control (1990). From 2003, François Juliat drove international expansion (establishing Robert Juliat USA), and from 2010 the company entered the LED era, launching its first profile LED spotlight, the Aledin.
