SKB (SKB Corporation, brand SKB Cases) is an American manufacturer of protective molded-polymer shipping cases for music and pro-audio equipment, photo/video gear, and sporting goods, as well as military, industrial, and medical applications. It is one of the world's leading manufacturers of impact-resistant, waterproof cases for transporting and storing equipment.
The company was founded in 1977 by Steve Kottman and Dave Sanderson, who began making guitar cases in a garage in Anaheim, California, on homemade vacuum-forming equipment. In 1979, SKB received a major order from Fender for 2,500 cases for the anniversary Stratocaster, after which the business grew rapidly. By the late 1990s, staff had grown to 500+ employees, and production had expanded into the military, industrial, and medical segments. In March 2020, SKB was acquired by publicly traded Clarus Corporation for $85 million plus a stock stake, becoming its subsidiary.
