SpanSet is a manufacturer of textile slings, load-securing systems (webbing straps, round slings, and flat slings), and fall-protection equipment made from high-strength synthetic fibers. Its products are widely used in rigging and load lifting, including for stage and equipment installation at events and in the rental industry.
SpanSet was founded in 1966 in Malmö, Sweden, by Erik Ennimb, co-owner of Klippan, a manufacturer of automotive seat belts. Already in 1967, SpanSet AG was established in Hombrechtikon, Switzerland, from which an international manufacturing and sales network grew, with subsidiaries in Europe, Asia, North and South America, and Australia. SpanSet's textile webbing quickly replaced chains and steel wire ropes thanks to its high load capacity; milestones include the 'cloverleaf' sling (1973) and the Magnum round sling with a capacity of up to 100 tonnes. The German subsidiary, SpanSet GmbH & Co. KG, is based in Übach-Palenberg, North Rhine-Westphalia.
