Yamaha Corporation is a Japanese manufacturer of musical instruments and audio equipment, and the world's largest musical instrument company. For the rental/events industry it produces professional audio equipment: mixing consoles, loudspeaker systems, amplifiers, and sound equipment (Yamaha Pro Audio).

The company was founded on October 12, 1887 by Torakusu Yamaha in Hamamatsu, Japan, as a manufacturer of reed organs. In 1900 it produced Japan's first piano. After World War II it expanded into related fields, spinning off Yamaha Motor as a separate company in 1955. It became the world's largest musical instrument manufacturer and released landmark products such as the DX7 digital synthesizer (1983) and the world's first CD recorder (1988); today it also develops professional audio equipment.
