Brompton Technology is a British developer and manufacturer of video processing technology for LED displays. Known for its Tessera line of processors, used to drive LED panels and video walls for concerts, touring productions, broadcast, and virtual production (ICVFX).
The company was founded in 2011 by a team with a background in the audio industry (DiGiCo), led by Richard Mead (CEO) and Chris Deighton (CTO), as an offshoot of the Carallon studio, which had identified a lack of specialized video solutions for live events. The first Tessera M2 processor launched in 2012, and by 2013 the technology was already being used at the Oscars ceremony. In 2018, the flagship 4K processor Tessera SX40 was released, playing a key role in the spread of LED screens in virtual production; it earned the company an Engineering Emmy Award in 2023. In 2020 the company received the Queen's Award for Enterprise (International Trade), and in 2025 the King's Award for Enterprise for Innovation.
