NEXO is a French manufacturer of professional sound reinforcement systems (loudspeakers) for concerts, festivals, installations, and touring. A world leader in the design and production of line arrays and subwoofers; since 2008, a strategic division of Yamaha Corporation.
The company was founded in 1979 north of Paris by Frenchman Eric Vincenot and Englishman Michael Johnson. In the 1980s it released its first IS and PC series, acquired supplier CAB Industries in 1988, and in the 1990s-2000s introduced landmark systems (the TS and PS series, Alpha, and the GEO line arrays). In 2005, NEXO entered a strategic technology alliance with Yamaha Corporation, which in 2008 fully bought out the founders' shares and made NEXO its division. Production of acoustic enclosures remains in France to this day, at the company's own factory roughly 30 km north of Paris.
